Joulescope JS220+: Precision Energy Analyzer
Joulescope's next-generation, affordable, and user-friendly instrument helps you create more energy-efficient products, all within a portable design. The LIMITED EDITION Joulescope JS220+ is an enhanced version of the JS220, designed for superior performance, temperature stability, and ±1 nanoamp accuracy at ±20 nA. It functions the same as the JS220 and offers the same top-tier high-dynamic current range measurement.
A JS220+ enables accuracy for measurement challenges including:
In-circuit leakage measurement for market-leading low-power ICs
Capacitor leakage measurement, including super-capacitors
Charge, energy, and battery life estimation for leading energy-harvesting and extreme low-power systems
While many low-measurement instruments using transimpedance amplifiers can measure down to femtoamps (1e-15 A), they are typically limited to a maximum capacitance of around 10 nF (1e-8 F), which is far below what is needed for in-circuit measurements. The JS220+ remains stable across all capacitances.
The JS220+ boasts a completely revamped analog front end aimed at low-level accuracy and temperature stability. It also features a custom, extremely low-leakage front panel with safety banana jacks, and all PCBs are made with Rogers material to ensure the lowest possible current leakage performance.
Python Library and Scripting:
Want to go beyond the Joulescope UI? Automate a test? Integrate with a larger test setup? The Joulescope software contains several layers that you can use to integrate. The easiest way to get started is with Python. Joulescope's Python package includes the driver and command-line tools. This package allows you to automate and script Joulescope operations or integrate Joulescope into a custom application. Most users will use the graphical user interface provided in the pyjoulescope_ui package. While most of the code is written in Python 3.8+, it also includes some C and Cython for enhanced performance.
