The Mitutoyo Inch Square Gage Block Sets offer exceptional precision and great versatility for a wide range of measurement applications including cutting tool positioning, angle measurement with a sine bar, taper measurements with a roller, and inspection of depth micrometers. The square gage block retains stable orientation both longitudinally and laterally, and they are available in different grades, sizes and steps.
The Mitutoyo innovative lapping technique makes our gage blocks some of the most accurate and trusted instruments in the world, featuring exceptional flatness and ideal surface roughness. Our steel gage blocks are constructed of high-carbon and methodically heat treated repeatedly for a high degree of hardness to reduce deterioration over time. The CERA gage blocks are constructed of ceramic materials with superior surface qualities and corrosion resistance for exceptional durability and reduced deformation.
CERA Blocks
CERA blocks, made of ceramic materials with superior surface quality, were developed by Mitutoyo's ultra-precision machining techniques and solve problems commonly associated with steel gage blocks:
- Corrosion-Resistant - Anti-corrosion treatment is not required when handled normally (i.e. with fingers), resulting in simple maintenance and storage
- No Burrs Caused by Dents - Since the CERA Block is very hard it will not scratch and is highly resistant to burrs. If a burr is formed, it can easily be removed with a ceramic deburring stone (Ceraston)
- Abrasion Resistant - CERA Blocks have 10 times the abrasion resistance of steel gage blocks
- Dimensional Stability - CERA Blocks are free from dimensional change over time
- Marking - Black characters, indicating the nominal length, inscribed by laser, clearly visible against the white surface of the block
- High Wringing Force - An even, dense tissue can maintain a b wringing force
- Closest Expansion Coefficient to Steel - The thermal expansion coefficient of a CERA Block is similar to that of a steel gage block
- Resistance Against Drops - CERA block material is one of the toughest ceramics materials and is extremely difficult to crack under normal use
