What's in the Zybo Z7-20 FPGA?

The primary difference between the Zybo Z7-10 and Zybo Z7-20 is the size of the FPGA inside the Zynq AP SoC (All Programmable System-on-Chip). The Zynq processors both have the same capabilities, but the -20 has about a 3 times larger internal FPGA than the -10. Also, The Zynq-7010 has slightly fewer FPGA attached pins than the Zynq-7020, which means several features found on the Zybo Z7-20 are not available on the Zybo Z7-10. The differences between the two variants are summarized below:

Overview of the Zybo Z7 Series

The Zybo Z7, a plug-and-play embedded software and digital circuit development board, is designed around the Xilinx Zynq-7000 family. This family features a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor that is seamlessly integrated with the Xilinx 7-series Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) logic.

The Zybo Z7 stands out as a powerful single-board computer, thanks to its comprehensive set of multimedia and connectivity peripherals. It is equipped with a MIPI CSI-2 compatible Pcam connector, HDMI input, HDMI output, and high DDR3L bandwidth, making it a cost-effective yet proficient solution for advanced embedded vision applications. The Zybo Z7 simplifies the attachment of extra hardware through its Pmod connectors, providing access to Digilent's extensive range of over 70 Pmod peripheral boards, which include motor controllers, sensors, displays, among others.

Xilinx's Vivado Design Suite, including the complimentary WebPACK version, supports the Zybo Z7. Additionally, users can engage with the processing system (PS) using Xilinx's Vitis Unified Software Platform and PetaLinux Tools.
