TDigilent's Joint Test Action Group (JTAG)-SMT4 is a surface-mount programming module designed for Xilinx field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). It can be interfaced directly with all Xilinx Tools, including Vivado and Vitis. The module can be loaded onto a target board and reflowed like any standard component.

The JTAG-SMT4 operates on a 3.3V primary power supply (VDD) and uses a separate Vref supply to drive the JTAG signals. All JTAG signals are managed by high-speed 24mA three-state buffers that support signal voltages ranging from 1.8V to 3.3V, and bus speeds reaching up to 30MBit/sec. The UART signals, referenced to the 3.3V VDD supply, are directly driven by the USB controller and can support bus speeds of up to 12Mbaud. The JTAG bus can be shared with other devices since the SMT4 signals maintain high impedance unless they are actively driven during programming. The SMT4 module is CE certified and adheres to EU RoHS and REACH directives. The module also routes the USB D+ (DP) and D- (DM) signals to pads, giving system designers the flexibility to select the USB connector type and its placement on the system board.
