66321D Overview
The Keysight 66321D is a DC source for mobile communications that delivers fast transient response, exceptional sourcing, output resistance programming, and precision measurement. It is specifically engineered to test the products of future digital wireless communications. The 66321D introduces a novel feature that emulates the internal resistance of a battery or battery pack. Plus, these high-performance models provide enhanced transient response and stable output operation with either short or long load leads. The 66321D dc source provides all of the capabilities of the 66321B with the addition of a built-in digital voltmeter (DVM).
With a battery emulation feature, the Keysight 66321D enables you to evaluate your devices under real-world power conditions. The ability to mimic the battery is crucial for assessing battery life span and identifying product malfunctions. This DC source can replicate the internal resistance effects of a battery, allowing it to imitate the performance of various battery types or batteries at different charge levels.
For R&D engineers, the Keysight 66321D enables the characterization of the battery's current output and facilitates design trade-offs that influence current drain and battery life. This is achieved by offering data logging (up to 1000 hours), CCDF statistical analysis, and waveform capture when the 66321D is used in conjunction with the Keysight 14565B software.
66300 Series Family of Specialized DC Power Sources
The 66300 series power supplies are specifically engineered to assist in testing mobile wireless devices. They offer DC sourcing, current sinking, and measurement functionalities to tackle the distinct difficulties of emulating batteries and battery packs, as well as gauging the current consumed by your test device.
Series Features
- Programmable output response compensation to accommodate all types of wiring configurations
- Fast DC power source to replace and simulate the battery during testing
- Fast voltage transient response ensures maximum test-system throughput by minimizing device shutdowns
- Current sinking for testing and calibrating charger circuitry
- Uses a proprietary system to automatically detect open sense wire connections
- Extensive protection features (including broken sense lead detection)
- GPIB Interface, SCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments), VXI plug&play drivers
- Dynamic measurement system enables accurate current measurement from µA to A
- 66319B/D and 66321B/D coupled with 14565B Software gives a powerful analysis tool to optimize device designs for long battery life
For scenarios where you need to substitute your device's primary battery with power during testing, single output models are suggested. On the other hand, dual output models are advised when you need to replace your device's main battery with power and simulate the power of the battery charger. In this case, one output is used to connect in lieu of the main battery (which sinks current to mimic the charging of the main battery), and the other output is used to deliver current to the battery charger's input port. Models are as follows:
Model | Power (W) | Max (V) | Max (A) | No. of Outputs | No. of Ranges | Ripple & Noise | Programming accuracy | Transient response ( |
