EDUX1052G Oscilloscope Overview

The 1000 X-Series of EDUX instruments leverages the same technology as Keysight's higher-end oscilloscopes, allowing students to learn on the same hardware and software used in leading R&D labs. Built-in Training Signals
The EDUX1052G comes with built-in training signals that enable students to quickly learn how to capture and analyze signals. This feature is essential for hands-on learning and helps students understand the practical applications of oscilloscopes.
Digital Voltmeter
The EDUX1052G oscilloscope includes an integrated 3-digit voltmeter (DVM). The voltmeter operates through probes connected to the oscilloscope channels but is decoupled from the oscilloscope triggering system. This allows both the DVM and triggered oscilloscope measurements to be made with the same connection. You can quickly measure AC RMS, DC, and DC RMS without configuring the oscilloscope capture. The voltmeter results are always displayed, keeping these quick characterization measurements at your fingertips.
WaveGen (20 MHz Function Generator with Modulation Capability)
(Available in EDUX1052G, DSOX1202G, and DSOX1204G models)
The 1000 X-Series EDUX1052G includes a built-in 20 MHz function generator with modulation features, making it perfect for educational or design labs with limited space and budget. This integrated function generator can produce sine, square, ramp, pulse, DC, and noise waveforms for your device testing needs. You can also add modulation to the signal with customizable AM, FM, and FSK settings. There's no need to purchase a separate function generator when it's already integrated into your oscilloscope.
Frequency Response Analyzer
(Available in EDUX1052G, DSOX1202G, and DSOX1204G models)
Frequency response analysis, which includes gain and phase Bode plots, is essential for characterizing amplifiers, passive networks, and power supply feedback networks. Bode plots are also key concepts for electrical engineering students. The 1000 X-Series' frequency response analyzer (standard in "G" models) is an excellent tool for helping students understand the gain and phase performance of passive RLC circuits and amplifiers. This capability is achieved through gain and phase measurements versus frequency (Bode plot). While VNAs and low-cost frequency response analyzers are typically used for these measurements, the 1000 X-Series offers an easy-to-use and affordable solution with its built-in WaveGen and Bode plot capabilities.
Frequency Counter
The EDUX1052G also features an integrated 5-digit frequency counter. This counter operates through probes connected to the oscilloscope channels, allowing both the counter and triggered oscilloscope measurements to be made with the same connection. You can quickly measure frequency without configuring the oscilloscope capture. The high-resolution frequency measurement results are always displayed, ensuring quick and accurate characterization.
Hardware-Based Serial Protocol Decode and Triggering
The EDUX1052G is a powerful protocol analyzer that enables hardware-based specialized serial communication analysis (standard). Unlike other vendors' oscilloscopes that use software post-processing techniques, the 1000 X-Series EDUX1052G offers faster decoding based on hardware technology. This enhances scope usability and increases the probability of capturing infrequent serial communication errors. The EDUX models support I2C and UART/RS232 (standard).
Educator's Resource Kit
The Educator's Oscilloscope Training Kit (standard) provides an array of built-in training signals so that electrical engineering and physics students can learn what an oscilloscope does and how to perform basic measurements. The kit includes a comprehensive oscilloscope lab guide and a tutorial written specifically for undergraduate students. Additionally, Keysight provides a PowerPoint slide set that professors and lab assistants can use as a pre-lab lecture on oscilloscope fundamentals. This lecture, which takes about 30 minutes, should be presented before students begin their first circuits lab. The slide set also includes a complete set of speaker notes.
