9170 Metrology Well Overview
The Model 9170 achieves the lowest temperatures of the series, reaching -45 C in normal room conditions. The 9170 is stable to ±0.005 C over its full temperature range (up to 140 C) and has 160 mm (6.3 in) of immersion depth. With axial uniformity of ±0.02 C and radial uniformity of ±0.01 C, this model delivers exceptional uncertainty budgets and is perfect for a variety of pharmaceutical and other applications.
Like the rest of the 9170 Series Metrology Wells, the Model 9170 minimizes temperature gradients, loading effects, and hysteresis, making the calibration of the display much more meaningful. It utilizes only traceable, accredited PRTs for calibrating, and Fluke's proprietary electronics consistently demonstrate repeatable accuracy.
The LCD display of the Model 9170 continuously shows many useful operating parameters, including the block temperature, block stability, heating and cooling status, and current set-point. The temperature can be easily set with the control buttons to any desired temperature within the calibrator's specified range.
The Model 9170 comes with an RS-232 serial interface and is compatible with Model 9938 MET/TEMP II software for completely automated calibrations of RTDs, thermocouples, and thermistors.
9170 Series Metrology Wells
Fluke's Hart Metrology Wells serve as stable heat sources suitable for both laboratory and field use. These wells come equipped with a calibrated display and an optional built-in reference thermometer input (marked with -R), making them suitable for use as reference standards.
Notably, Metrology Wells feature interchangeable probe sleeves that accommodate probes of varying diameters. Their controllers utilize a PRT (Platinum Resistance Thermometer) sensor along with thermoelectric modules or heaters to achieve consistent and uniform temperatures throughout the block.
These Metrology Wells are available in four models: 9170, 9171, 9172, and 9173. They offer reliable performance for temperature calibration and measurement tasks. Any of six standard inserts (A, B, C, D, E, or F) may be ordered with each unit, accommodating a variety of metric- and imperial-sized probe diameters.
- 9170: Achieves the lowest temperatures of the series, ranging from -45 C to 140 C with 160 mm (6.3 in) of immersion depth
- 9171: Provides more depth at 203 mm (8 in) of immersion over temperatures from -30 C all the way to 155 C
- 9172: Temperatures from 35 C to 425 C with 203 mm (8 in) of immersion and reduces stem conduction errors at high temperatures
- 9173: Stability and uniformity performance for work between 50 C and 700 C with immersion depth of 203 mm (8 in)
