Key mA Loop Functions: 20 mA current source/simulate, simultaneous mA and % scale readout, and 24 V loop power supply

The Fluke 789 ProcessMeter enhances problem-solving abilities by integrating the functionality of a safety-rated digital multimeter and an mA loop calibrator into one compact testing instrument. Whether your requirements are solely to source and simulate mA, or you need a 24 V loop power supply, Fluke offers a ProcessMeter testing device tailored to your specific needs. Building on the reliable measurement capabilities of the Fluke 87 DMM, the 789 incorporates the capacity to measure, source, and simulate mA with the precision and resolution characteristic of a Fluke mA loop calibrator, making it the perfect instrument for diagnosing and calibrating current loop systems.

773 Process Clamp Meter Features and Specifications

  • Measure 4 to 20 mA signals without breaking the loop
  • Source/simulate 4 to 20 mA signals and provide loop power
  • Source/measure DC voltage to verify power supplies or I/O signals
  • Best in class accuracy of 0.2%
  • Delivers 0.01 mA resolution and sensitivity

The Fluke 773 milliamp clamp meter is precise, adaptable, and extremely portable. It optimizes time and cost efficiency by measuring 4–20 mA signals at a rate five times quicker than conventional multimeters, all while maintaining the loop's integrity. This allows for the diagnosis of a live device without the need for shutdown, preventing potential oversight of ongoing processes.

The 773 is perfectly suited for diagnosing transmitters, valves, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) commonly found in process plants. It facilitates connection to a mA loop in a standard series workflow for measuring, sourcing, or simulating a control system. It also has the capability to measure up to 99.0 mA non-contact, inclusive of 10 to 50 mA signals prevalent in older control systems.

In addition to sourcing and measuring DC voltage, the 773 can be utilized to diagnose voltage input and output devices that accept a 1-5 V or 0 to 10 V signal. The clamp section of the meter can be detached and used as a remote jaw, connected to the main body via an extension cable, simplifying measurements in confined spaces.
